We are a wholly independent project supported by individuals from the world of youth engagement, business, arts, health, education, policing, local and national government and all those wishing to make a difference to the lives of young people.

Each London Borough also directs valuable assistance towards diversion and social mobility programs for young people through their Children’s Services and anti-crime policies. This website seeks to address and drive their efforts outwards through the power of community effort. If your organisation has not been listed, and you would like to be included, please contact us. We aim to make this website as comprehensive as it can be for organisation working in Greater London.

Our purpose is to enable, empower, to build bridges and ultimately to change lives. Our intention is not to replace, but to enhance the work being so well performed by others.

Bruce Houlder CB QC –Project founder

Mission Statement

  • To build bridges through an online meeting place for individuals and organisations engaged in empowering youth to break away from the negative temptations of modern life –in particular those engaged in combatting knife crime, and drugs
  • To combat all forms of social exclusion
  • To assist young people and those who seek to help them with the means to achieve fulfilment and self-confidence, by providing the most direct routes to where help can both be given and received, and to discover the variety of support available to them
  • To provide an online Directory of hundreds of organisations engaged in assisting the aims above
  • To sing the praises of children and young people, as well as the organisations that support them through the same online resource
  • To develop an holistic philosophy to complement the work of government and civil society in achieving their aims of social inclusion for all young people, and encourage it’s implementation
  • To develop the resources of social media in support of all we seek to achieve.

“These organisations have offered the greatest assistance and support in building this new initiative. There are many more. We recognise and applaud the inclusive and collaborative approach of all of them to changing young lives”

"This is a great initiative to end the scourge of knife-crime and it is led by a wonderful man, Bruce Houlder, who also happens to be a very fine lawyer and former judge. Those of us who have worked in criminal justice know the far-reaching damage caused to the lives of all concerned and we know the fear knife-crime engenders in our society. We have to get to the root causes. Let us all support this programme and bring about real change."

Baroness Helena Kennedy QC,

Human Rights Champion and former Chair of the British Council

“The sheer size of Greater London and the large number of individuals and organisations with the well-being of young people at their heart makes this website a key tool for dealing with disadvantage and danger. The website is highly practical and should make it possible for those who, either already are, or who have aspirations to build a fairer society, to collaborate with each other. It will help to direct scarce resources of energy and money to communities of great need as well as reducing duplication of effort. I see this as being of great value to both politicians and to the corporate world.  Politicians will be able to see exactly which organisations are working and growing within their patch. Companies, especially those with a developed sense of wanting to contribute to more resilient local communities, will more easily see how and where to engage.

This huge step forward will be welcome news for all the companies who are coming together under the banner of the Second Curve Network to contribute to a more cohesive and caring London.”

Sir Stephen O’Brien,

Vice President of Business in the Community, Convenor of The Second Curve Network, Chair, London Communities Commission

“This last year has posed even greater challenges to the work of all those in Greater London who are seeking to help turn round lives and support the disadvantaged and those in danger. To emerge from this with a terrific new tool, which helps join the dots between those seeking help and those providing that help and enables effective collaboration  between the many organisations providing help and support, is a real boon. As High Sheriff I support and encourage all organisations who are engaged in work to help combat crime. This great initiative will hopefully inspire more people to work together to help combat the blight of knife crime and help rebuild damaged lives.”
